JTB supports the development of local communities, environmental conservation, and cultural activities, by providing greater opportunities for people-to-people exchange.

Bringing vitality to the earth and smiles to people. "JTB Brighter Earth Project"

The JTB Group has been carrying out the tourist destinations cleanup campaigns, which consists of activities to clean and invigorate tourist spots throughout Japan, for 27 years since 1985.

This year, JTB celebrated its 100th anniversary. Based on our desire to bring vitality to the earth and smiles to people, we have renamed this campaign to the “JTB Brighter Earth Project” and are implementing it across the country.

We will introduce information about programs that are scheduled to take place in various locations.

Activities to support reconstruction after the Great East Japan Earthquake

The Great East Japan Earthquake occurred on March 11, 2011.

The main business of the JTB Group is travel. To provide assistance in any way it can , the Group’s employees are carrying out activities to support reconstruction.

Travel/culture lectures held in regions throughout Japan

The JTB Group travel/culture lectures were started in 1983, when Shigeta Saito gave the first lecture. As of March 2006, the JTB Group has sponsored 286 lectures totaling more than 100,000 participants. Lecturers have included novelists, actors, movie directors, and other personalities talking about travel, including their experiences and travel philosophy. Admission is free to provide as many customers as possible to enjoy the opportunity to hear interesting speakers.

JTB Exchange/Culture Award

The JTB Group established the JTB Exchange/Culture Award in 2005 under the two themes of communicating local attractions to the nation and creating new people-to-people exchanges. The JTB Group solicits, selects, and honors efforts for the promotion of tourism and local communities in every part of Japan, as well as individual cultural exchange experiences. The awarded cases will be realized and commercialized. We welcome your application.

Festivals attract people "Mori no Nigiwai", a traditional Japanese culture festival, for a new style of travel

"Mori no Nigiwai", a traditional Japanese cultural festival, is an event solely supported by JTB, where a variety of traditional performing arts unique to specific localities are presented for travelers to the area. The first event was in Noto, Ishikawa Prefecture, in 1982; the festival created new travel demand in several parts of Japan and contributed to the enhancement of local tourism. More than twenty events have been held in Okinawa, and the total number of events reached one hundred in 2005. A special celebration was held in Ishikawa Prefecture, in honor of the memorable first festival.

Collaboration with UNICEF for children all over the worldSupport for UNICEF Coin Aid and participating in Code of Conduct--Protection of Children from Sexual Exploitation in Travel and Tourism

The JTB Group fully supports the foreign coin collection donation program advocated by UNICEF Japan and provides donation boxes at the counter of every branch in Japan. The program is designed to collect unused foreign coins from travelers returning from abroad as donations for children in developing nations.JTB also participates in the Code of Conduct--Protection of Children from Sexual Exploitation in Travel and Tourism promoted worldwide by UNICEF (United Nations Children's Fund), WTO (World Tourism Organization), ECPAT, an international NGO, and other organizations to eliminate the commercial sexual exploitation of children in tourist resorts.

Support for guide dogs

Donation boxes to support guide dogs are located at the counter of each branch of the JTB Group. The donation provides support for guide dogs.
